Soludo Advises NYSC Members: Advocates Against Social Vices While Promoting Skill Development

While trying to shape the future of Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has imparted crucial advice to the incoming National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during the commencement of the 2023 Batch 'C' Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC permanent camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.

Governor Soludo strongly cautioned the young corps members to stay vigilant and avoid engaging in social vices such as cultism, drug addiction, substance abuse, cybercrime, and kidnapping. Addressing the gathering, he shed light on the destructive impact these vices can have on both individuals and the wider society. The governor emphasized the need for a collective effort involving law enforcement agencies, traditional and religious leaders, and town unions to eradicate these detrimental practices.

Taking a step further in his commitment to youth development, Governor Soludo unveiled the "Coach Anambra programme," a coding skill training initiative aimed at equipping corps members with limited coding and IT skills. Encouraging the youth to seize these opportunities, he expressed optimism about the positive outcomes that could emerge from nurturing the talents and capabilities of the younger generation.

Governor Soludo, recognizing the pivotal role of the youth in society, highlighted their significance, stating, "The youth form not less than 65 per cent of the world population. They are equally the vibrant, energetic, innovative, and creative segment of society. So, the society holds them in high esteem." He reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to unlocking the immense potential of the youth for the greater good of both individuals and the community.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Iruma, provided an overview of the orientation camp, reporting that 1,500 prospective corps members, comprising 714 men and 786 women, were registered and actively engaged in camp activities. She noted their successful adjustment to the new environment and expressed optimism about the positive impact they would make during their service year in Anambra State.
