SSANU Demands Immediate Payment of Withheld Allowances to Taraba Varsity Staff

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has demanded that the Taraba State Government immediately pay the withheld backlog of allowances owed to its members at Taraba State University, Jalingo.

The National President of SSANU, Comrade Muhammad Haruna, emphasized that members of the Union deserve fair treatment and called on the state government to pay all withheld salaries and allowances to prevent further confrontation and ensure a smooth academic calendar.

The Union has highlighted several outstanding issues, including the payment of withheld salaries and allowances, implementation of a defined pension scheme, and review of Conditions of Service to align with other universities nationwide. The Taraba State Government has been commended for some efforts, including part payment of the Union's salary and allowance backlog and full implementation of the new N70,000 National Minimum Wage.

The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration's commitment to policies that would transform the education sector in the state. He appealed to SSANU members to remain dedicated to their duties to complement the government's efforts in providing quality education in Taraba.
