Taraba State University Launches Anti-Drug Abuse Initiative

Taraba State University has launched a training program for staff of the Directorate for the Prohibition of Narcotic and Drug Abuse, aimed at combating drug abuse on campus and in the community.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, represented by Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ahmed Baba, emphasized the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities. He stressed the need for collective efforts to develop effective prevention strategies.

Acting Director Mr. Jeremiah Adamu highlighted the vice-chancellor's initiative, which stems from a thorough assessment of the university environment and the prevalence of drug-related social vices among students.

The directorate aims to ensure a drug-free campus, with mandatory drug tests for newly admitted students and staff. The goal is to promote awareness, education, and community engagement to combat drug abuse.

The event was attended by representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), led by Mrs. Uwa Ben Ahmed.
