TETFUND to Take Over Vandalized CBN Building Project at UNIDEL for New Postgraduate School

A multi-agency delegation comprising officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and Goshi Heritage Ltd. visited the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, on Monday, March 16, 2026, to finalize the revitalisation of a long-standing infrastructure project.

The mission, led by Dr. Omozuwa Iria-Anenih of the CBN, focused on assessing a sponsored building project originally initiated during the tenure of the defunct College of Education, Agbor. While noting that the structure is 90% complete, Dr. Iria-Anenih expressed concern over significant vandalism at the site. She revealed that, following a directive from the Minister of Education, TETFund is set to take over the project from the CBN to ensure its final completion.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stella Chiemeke, welcomed the intervention, noting that the completed facility is designated to house the university’s new School of Postgraduate Studies. She urged TETFund and the contractors, Goshi Heritage Ltd., to expedite work to bring the building into immediate use.

In addition to the project transition, Professor Chiemeke made a strategic appeal for the handover of the Vocational Education Training Centre near Uromi Junction to the University. She argued that UNIDEL’s oversight would ensure the centre’s sustainability and transform it into a vital asset for technological research and regional development.

Prior to the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor led the visitors and principal officers—including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar, and University Librarian—on a physical inspection of the complex located near the Faculty of Science.

The collaboration marks a critical step in UNIDEL’s infrastructural expansion, turning a legacy project into a cornerstone for advanced academic research.
