The Inspiring Journey of Deborah Yekini, UNILAG First Class Graduate

The academic community is celebrating the remarkable resilience of Deborah Yekini, who recently emerged as a top achiever at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) 2025 convocation ceremony. Deborah earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting with First Class Honours, finishing with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.64/5.00.

Her path to academic excellence was paved with significant financial hurdles. Following her secondary school graduation in 2012, Deborah faced severe economic constraints that nearly ended her educational aspirations. To settle outstanding secondary school debts, she signed an undertaking to work alongside her mother, making university feel like an unattainable dream.

"Through discipline, perseverance, and God’s grace, my journey took a different turn," Deborah remarked while reflecting on her success. Her story has since gone viral as a testament to the power of "working and winning" against the odds.
