Three Nigerian undergraduates—Ahmad Attahir from Nile University Abuja, Adedife Adigun from Osun State University, and Anuoluwapo Olukayode from Bowen University—have received the inaugural Queen’s University Belfast summer scholarship.

Three Nigerian undergraduates have been honored with the prestigious inaugural Queen’s University Belfast summer scholarship. The recipients include Ahmad Attahir from Nile University Abuja, Adedife Adigun from Osun State University, and Anuoluwapo Olukayode from Bowen University. Attahir is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, while Adigun is studying English & International Business, and Olukayode is also majoring in Computer Science.

Queen’s University Belfast recently introduced the summer school scholarship program specifically for Nigerian and other African students. This initiative, which underwent a pilot phase in mid-2024, is set to officially launch in 2025. The scholarship package covers tuition fees of £1,400, accommodation fees of £1,300, and includes a 20 percent discount on MSc degree studies. Additionally, recipients will receive a course certificate, a transcript, academic reference letters from the university, Queen’s Sport Off-Peak membership, and support for a UK visa and travel profile.

Ilesanmi Olade, a Nigerian lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast, emphasized the scheme's role in enhancing educational diversity and access. This scholarship marks a significant step towards broadening opportunities for African students in global academic settings.
