A heart-wrenching incident unfolded at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where Olayinka Emmanuel Olatunji, a student in his 400-level, made the devastating choice to end his life.

The distressing turn of events came to light when Olayinka posted a harrowing video on the class WhatsApp platform from his home. In the video, he was seen consuming a dangerous substance identified as sniper. His fellow students, alarmed by the video, made desperate efforts to contact him, only to discover the unfortunate news of his demise due to the ingestion of the toxic substance.

Reports indicate that the young student's decision to take his own life may have been driven by a combination of pressures, including social circles and financial difficulties. Speculations within the class WhatsApp platform suggested that he had been battling depression, a condition likely exacerbated by his inability to secure funds for his academic pursuits.

A close friend of Emmanuel from his secondary school days, who wishes to remain anonymous, revealed that he had been struggling with depression for some time. Emmanuel had even confided in this friend about feeling targeted by certain groups and celebrities. Despite his friend's efforts to reach out and provide support, Emmanuel chose to keep his feelings bottled up.

The news of his passing has left those who knew him in shock. One of Emmanuel's secondary school classmates at Mafogram Secondary School expressed their sorrow, saying, "It is shocking to me to hear of his death. He was my secondary school classmate."
