Mukaila Habeebullah, a reporter with DIGEST PRESS, alongside two other law students, has emerged among the best graduating students at the Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) call to bar ceremony for the newly admitted students.

The ceremony, which was held on the 12th of March, 2026, at the Moot Court Complex of the Faculty of Law, was attended by different faculty leaders: LAWSAN executives, members of the judiciary, the Senior Advocate of the Society (SAS), principal partners, the Faculty Officer, and other dignitaries.

At the event, three students were announced as the overall best graduating students. Abdulmumeen Zubair emerged first, Mukaila Habeebullah, a Digest reporter, came second, while Bella Ayuba (Sumayya) finished third.

Digest Press gathered that Abdulmumeen Zubair scored 98 out of 100, Mukaila Habeebullah scored 96, while Bello Ayuba (Sumayya) scored 94 in the exercise.

“I was very glad when my name was announced as the second best graduating student."

He further noted that by continuing to work harder, he'll reach great heights and will not disappoint.

In a separate interview, Abdulmumeen Zubair, who emerged as the overall best student, said he felt honoured and grateful for the recognition as the best student.

He noted that his success was largely due to paying close attention during tutorials and consistently showing curiosity about topics being taught them by the facilitators.

“I always tried to pay attention during tutorials and ask questions whenever necessary. That helped me understand better,” he said.

Similarly, Bella Ayuba (Sumayya), who emerged third overall, said she was surprised when her name was announced among the top three students.

“Although I studied very hard for the examination, I did not expect to emerge among the top three because of the many brilliant students in our class,” she said.

She added that proper planning played an important role in her preparation to emerge one of the best.

“There is a saying that if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail,” she stated.

Sumayya also noted that while the first and second positions were occupied by male students, she was proud to represent the female category among the awardees.
