UDUS Dean Students' Affairs holds table discussion with Halls of Residence Governors

Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto UDUS Dean Students' Affairs holds table discussion with Halls of Residence Governors, to discuss students' welfarism, myschoolnews reporting.

The Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Umar Aliyu has today presided over the first Hall Governors meeting for the 2nd Semester of 2020/2021 session.

The meeting which took place on Saturday 20th November 2022 at the SU secretariat, was dwelled at familiarization of one another and to address issues of students welfare in the hostels. 

In the voice of the students, the Hall Governors raised issues ranging from lack of water, lack of security, lack of light and working fans, condemned toilet doors, unhealthy environment, improper use of charcoal, prohibition to market at the hostel, lack of cleaners, and the usage of gas and prohibited electrical appliances.

Speaking on unhealthy environment, the Dean of Students' Affairs warned that students should desist from indiscriminate act of passing excreta around the hostel, as anyone caught will be forced to clean the toilet. He cautioned that same students in the hostel fall the first victim of improper toilet usage.

In his words, he said: people should know that they're alot of hazard associated with unhealthy environment, most especially the excreta and urine, and common of the disease is typhoid fever. 

Condemning the use of firewood, the Dean expressed that the use of charcoal though not prohibited should be done with extra caution. He added that charcoal should not be used indiscriminately, but at a safer place.

The Dean reinstated that while the use of electric cookers and gas are not allowed in the hostel, the Management won't take it lightly with those who go contrary, as this is for the students safety. 

The Dean of Students' Affairs assured that Insha Allah the University is going to start fumigation exercise in hostels and lecture halls soon, and the issues of water and light will Insha Allah be overcome, cleaning of reservoirs, additional cleaners and security, and after all come up with a competition among the hostels.
