UI-ISI Parents Distribute Free Hijabs, Encourage Female Muslim Students to Excel
The Muslim Parents Forum at the University of Ibadan International School (UI-ISI) distributed free hijabs to over 100 female Muslim students, encouraging them to excel academically and uphold Islamic values.
In a significant event at the University of Ibadan International School (UI-ISI), the Muslim Parents Forum (ISI-MPF) has distributed free hijabs to over 100 female Muslim students. The initiative, led by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Chairman of the ISI-MPF, encourages students to excel in their studies and be exemplary ambassadors of Islam.

This follows the May 23 Oyo State High Court judgment permitting willing Muslim girls to wear hijabs with their school uniforms. Balogun emphasized the forum's commitment to supporting students in exercising their religious freedom as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution.
Professor Rahman Akinoso, a parent, urged students to uphold the values of Islam and excel academically. Dr. Kafayat Adebayo advised on maintaining modesty and good moral conduct, stressing that the hijab should symbolize respect and dignity.
Professor Sikiru Babarinde, an educationist, highlighted the six-year legal battle that led to this victory, urging students to conduct themselves with integrity. Dr. Taofeek Yekeen, former National President of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of representing Islam positively.

Ustaz Sodiq Musa, Ameer of MSSN at UI, pledged ongoing support for hijab-related issues. Despite resistance from the school management, the number of students wearing hijabs is steadily increasing.
The event, held at the UI Central Mosque, saw participation from male students of UI-ISI, MSSN executives from Akinyele Area Council, parents, and other stakeholders.
