UNILORIN Inducts 30 New Veterinary Doctors

Thirty graduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ilorin were inducted into the veterinary profession on October 7, 2024, emphasizing the importance of integrity and continuous education.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) celebrated the induction of thirty new veterinary doctors during the 6th induction and oath-taking ceremony for the 2022/2023 graduating class. The ceremony took place at the University Auditorium, marking a significant milestone for the graduands of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, addressed the inductees, urging them to contribute positively to the development of Nigeria. He emphasized that their educational journey is just beginning, highlighting the necessity of ongoing education and self-improvement in their professional lives.

In her welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Oyebisi Azeez, encouraged the new veterinary doctors to uphold the high standards of their profession. She reminded them that many aspire to hold the title of "doctor" and stressed the importance of maintaining integrity and professionalism. Prof. Azeez underscored that true professionals know their limitations and seek guidance when necessary.

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Puspa Ramloo, inspired the inductees to follow their passions and strive to provide meaningful service to humanity. She emphasized the importance of pursuing personal goals and doing what is right throughout their careers.

The President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), Mrs. Aishatu Abubakar-Baju, encouraged the new veterinarians to focus on self-improvement rather than competition with others. She advised them to avoid distractions that could tarnish the profession's reputation.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to distinguished guests and the best graduating students from each department, recognizing excellence within the new cohort.

Attendees included prominent figures such as the Deputy Vice Chancellors, the University Librarian, and deans from various faculties, highlighting the importance of the occasion within the academic community.
