UNIABUJA Workshop Highlights Vital Role of Technologists in Advancing University Research

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) recently hosted a two-day workshop organized by the Centre for In-House Training for the university's technologists.

The event, which focused on enhancing the performance of technologists in a modern university setting, featured presentations and discussions that underscored the significance of technologists in academia.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIABUJA, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, emphasized the crucial role that technologists play within the university system. While speaking through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Phillip Afaha, Professor Na'Allah encouraged technologists to embrace innovation for the betterment of national development. He also urged them to facilitate inter-faculty collaboration to drive cutting-edge research within the institution.

The workshop, themed "Improving the Performance of the Technologist in a 21st Century University," was designed to equip technologists with the knowledge and skills required to excel in their roles.

Among the notable presenters at the event was the Registrar of the University of Abuja, Mal Yahya Mohammed, who was represented by Senior Deputy Registrar, Dr. Idris Othman Jibrin. Dr. Jibrin delivered insights on the "Conditions of Service for the UofA Technologists."

Other speakers included Professor Akeem Oyerinde, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at UNIABUJA, Dr. Peter A. Oluwafisoye from the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) in Ibadan, Oyo state, and Dr. O. Okeke, a medical laboratory scientist.

The workshop served as an essential platform for technologists to enhance their knowledge, skills, and understanding of their roles in the university environment. It reinforced the critical contribution of technologists to the advancement of academic research and the overall growth of educational institutions.
