UNICAL VC commends TETFUND efforts in making the educational system better

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) for its efforts in making the educational system in Nigeria better, Myschoolnews report.

Prof Florence Obi made the commendation while receiving the Coordinator and a member of a team of scholars commissioned by TETfund to author a book on Physiology in her office.

While congratulating the coordinator and his team for the quality of the book, the Vice Chancellor said TETfund is also making efforts to digitalize the book to have soft copies for better preservation.

The University helmsman who also stated that TETfund sponsors the writing of books to create academic content to better the educational system, noted that, since the books are not for commercial purposes, they will be placed in the Reserve Library as a tool to help students and researchers.

In an earlier remark, the Coordinator of the team, Prof. Eme E. Osim informed the Vice Chancellor that they were in her office to intimate her of their work with TETfund as well as present complimentary copies of the book to the University.

Prof. Osim said the Government through TETfund came up with the book-writing initiative on various subjects.

To this end, he said , having been commissioned to write a book on Physiology, proceeded to select seasoned professors in the 10 areas of physiology.

Prof. Osim who said 2 of the 10 professors selected were drawn from the University of Calabar, stated that their manuscript was first sent overseas by TETfund for review before the book was published with the title "Fundamentals of Human Physiology".

Prof. Osim who was accompanied by a member of the book writing team, also from Unical, Prof. Atim Antai, presented complimentary copies of the book as emblematic of a feat accomplished by the University.
