UNICAL VC Urges ADEPTI Participants to Apply New Skills in Digital Transformation

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Obi, has called on participants of the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI) to maximize the skills acquired during their training to drive positive change within the university and beyond.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Obi, has called on participants of the Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI) to maximize the skills acquired during their training to drive positive change within the university and beyond.

Prof. Obi, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eno Grace Nta, made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the five-day training program hosted by UNICAL's ICT department and funded by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).

She congratulated the participants for their dedication and urged them to leverage the cutting-edge skills they gained to become versatile professionals capable of addressing modern digital challenges. “I trust that the skills you’ve acquired during this program will enhance your research and professional duties, helping you contribute meaningfully to the development of our institution and the wider community,” Prof. Obi said.

The Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at UNICAL, Dr. Essien Eyo, also expressed his gratitude to the Digital Bridge Institute and NCC for selecting UNICAL as the venue for this important capacity-building initiative. He emphasized that the training program was designed to enhance participants’ digital proficiency and cybersecurity awareness, preparing them for the demands of the digital age.

Dr. Essien encouraged participants to pursue continuous self-development in the rapidly evolving technology landscape. “This training is just the beginning,” he said. “Keep sharpening your skills, as technology is always advancing.”

Representing the Digital Bridge Institute, Mrs. Judith Uzougbo commended NCC for its ongoing support of the ADEPTI program. She acknowledged the UNICAL administration for providing a conducive learning environment and praised the instructors for their expert-led sessions, which included hands-on exercises and case studies that boosted participants’ digital and cybersecurity competencies.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants, marking the successful completion of the program.
