UNICAL will now Admit More Students into Medical Laboratory Science Program

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has announced an increase in the admission quota for the Medical Laboratory Science Programme at the University of Calabar (UNICAL). Prof. Erhabor, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of MLSCN explained that the decision to increase the quota was in response to a request from the Vice Chancellor during his last visit to the institution.

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has announced an increase in the admission quota for the Medical Laboratory Science Programme at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

The quota has been doubled from 100 to 200 slots, providing more opportunities for aspiring medical laboratory scientists.

This announcement was made by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of MLSCN, Prof. Tosan Erhabor, during the 20th Induction/Oath-Taking Ceremony of the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) at UNICAL’s International Conference Centre.

Prof. Erhabor explained that the decision to increase the quota was in response to a request from the Vice Chancellor during his last visit to the institution. Prof. Erhabor emphasized that the council will no longer tolerate institutions admitting beyond the approved quota and then blaming the council. He stressed that universities must adhere to the council’s regulatory guidelines, particularly regarding student admission quotas.

 In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, praised the inductees for their perseverance in undergoing rigorous training to prepare themselves for professional practice. She urged the inductees to apply the knowledge gained during their training to contribute meaningfully to society.
