Before embarking on the change of degree journey, students must have completed at least one full academic year at UNN. This period allows them to gain a deeper understanding of their academic interests and make informed decisions about their future. The official application for a change of degree program is facilitated through an online portal. However, before students can proceed, they must pay the prescribed fees for this process. To initiate the change of degree process, students must submit the following documents to the Secretary of the Admissions UnitA completed change of degree application form summary, A copy of their WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate Examination) results, Evidence of payment for the change of degree application.

The Admissions Unit reviews and validates the submitted documents, after which they download the change of degree application form from the UNN Portal. The forms are then forwarded to the respective current departments or faculties. The student's current department or faculty is tasked with the responsibility of evaluating the request to change the degree program. They have the option to release the student or not, providing reasons for their decision. This decision is crucial, as the Admissions Unit will not process the forms of students whose departments or faculties refuse to release them. After the initial evaluation, the completed forms, duly signed and stamped by the Deans/Heads of Department or Faculty Officers, indicate whether the student is being released or not. The forms also specify the appropriate year of study if the student is accepted for the change.The completed acceptance forms, including all relevant information provided by the current department or faculty, are sent to the proposed department or faculty for acceptance or rejection of the students. These forms must be signed and stamped, confirming the new placement of the students in their respective programs.

Once the acceptance forms have been received, they are forwarded to the ICT unit for updating in the students' profiles.
