The Vice-Chancellor of University of Delta Agbor, Stella Chiemeke, has commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for integrating entrepreneurship into tertiary education, describing the policy as a strategic investment in youth productivity and economic resilience.
Chiemeke made the remarks on March 31, 2026, while receiving 15 beneficiaries of the state’s Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Programme alongside student athlete Godswill Saturday, a rising sprinter from the university.
The programme provides ₦400,000 grants to selected students to establish micro-enterprises, an intervention the Vice-Chancellor said would strengthen practical skills acquisition alongside academic training. She urged beneficiaries to deploy the funds with discipline and long-term sustainability in mind.
She also acknowledged the role of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, led by Jude Igborgbor, as well as support from the State Commissioner for Youth Development in driving the initiative.
In the same engagement, attention shifted to Godswil, a 100m specialist and student of English and Literary Studies, who has emerged as one of the university’s standout sports performers. His recent medal haul includes bronze in the 100m and gold in the 4×100m relay at the Niger Delta Development Commission Games held in Edo State.

His performances have earned him qualification for an upcoming Under-20 international athletics championship organised under global track and field governance structures, where he is expected to compete against top emerging athletes.
Chiemeke noted that his progression reflects both personal discipline and institutional support, commending the university’s sports development unit led by Michael Mbibi for strengthening competitive athletics within the institution.
University officials present at the event included Deputy Vice-Chancellor Patrick Ijeh, Registrar Richmond Omagbemi, Bursar Sunny Ikeogwu, and University Librarian Vera Okonoko, alongside faculty leadership and staff from the sports and entrepreneurship units.
