UNILAG Vice-Chancellor and the Group Deputy Managing Director of United Bank for Africa (UBA) PLC, Mr. Muyiwa Akinyemi, officially broke ground on the new UBA Building project within the university campus.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, and the Group Deputy Managing Director of United Bank for Africa (UBA) PLC, Mr. Muyiwa Akinyemi, officially broke ground on the new UBA Building project within the university campus.

The three-storey building, strategically located between the UNILAG Bookshop and Mariere Hostel, is set to be completed within eighteen months. Professor Ogunsola highlighted the building’s sustainability, energy conservation, and green features, emphasizing its potential to enhance the longstanding relationship between UNILAG and UBA.

Mr. Akinyemi, in his remarks, underscored the significance of the sod-turning ceremony, describing it as a testament to UBA’s enduring legacy and commitment to making a positive impact. He praised the bank’s over four decades of collaboration with successive UNILAG administrations and assured that the new building would offer top-notch aesthetics and facilities for an optimal user experience.

The event’s highlight was the ceremonial block laying by Professor Ogunsola and Mr. Akinyemi. The ceremony was attended by a delegation from Afriland Properties, led by Managing Director Uzo Oshogwe, and representatives from Interdec Davinci, the project’s lead contractor, represented by Managing Director and CEO Eliran Azoulay.
