UNILAG Management Hosts Iftar for Muslim Community
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management hosted an Iftar programme on March 25, 2025, for the UNILAG Muslim Community at the Senate Lounge.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, organized a special Iftar (breaking of fast) programme for members of the UNILAG Muslim Community. The event, which marked the 25th day of the Ramadan fast, was held at the Senate Lounge of the UNILAG Senate House.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, alongside other members of the university’s management team, congratulated the Muslim community on witnessing the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446 AH. She commended their contributions to maintaining an inclusive, peaceful, and harmonious environment on campus.
Prof. Ogunsola lauded the Muslim community for promoting moral uprightness, discipline, and community service within the university. She urged them to continue their prayers and support for the progress and development of UNILAG. In her remarks, she encouraged the community to allow their prayers to guide their actions, provide support to those in need, and uphold the values of Ramadan in their daily lives.
The Chairman of the UNILAG Muslim Community, Professor Hakeem Olaniyan, expressed gratitude to the university management for sustaining the Iftar tradition despite economic challenges. He reaffirmed the loyalty of the Muslim community to the university’s leadership and acknowledged the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect fostered on campus.
The Chief Imam of the UNILAG Central Mosque, Professor Ismail Musa, led a special prayer session for the university and the nation at large. Several members of the Muslim community, including Professor Tajudeen Yusuf, Dr. Halimot Egberoungbe, and Dr. Abiola Abdulakeem, also expressed their appreciation to the university management for their continued support and commitment to religious harmony.
A key moment of the event was the Vice-Chancellor, alongside other management members, leading the Muslim community to the food stand where they were served their preferred meals and drinks.
UNILAG management has maintained the tradition of hosting an annual Iftar programme for decades as a way of identifying with the Muslim community during Ramadan and fostering religious harmony on campus.
