The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, hosted the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, on March 24, 2025, to strengthen bilateral collaborations in education, research, and cultural exchange.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has reiterated the institution’s commitment to strengthening international collaborations following a visit from the French Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Marc Fonbaustier, on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Ambassador Fonbaustier was warmly received by Professor Ogunsola alongside the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Professor Bola Oboh, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Mudashir Ilupeju. The visit underscored efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the French Embassy in Nigeria and UNILAG, particularly in the areas of education, research, and cultural exchange.

As part of his visit, Ambassador Fonbaustier and his delegation toured key facilities within the university, including the UNILAG Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), a state-of-the-art facility donated by the French Embassy in 2020. The Ambassador expressed delight over the quality of innovative projects displayed by students and commended the optimization of the facility.

Reaffirming the French Embassy’s commitment to supporting the FabLab, Ambassador Fonbaustier emphasized the importance of sustaining collaboration with UNILAG to foster innovation and technological advancement.

The delegation also visited the UNILAG Solid Waste Recycling Plant, where they were briefed on the university’s waste-to-wealth and recycling initiatives. These programs align with UNILAG’s goal of maintaining a clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable campus.
