University of Lagos (UNILAG) Senate celebrated the careers of two distinguished professors, Professor Ngozi Maureen Egenti and Professor Rose Ihuoma Anorlu, in a special tribute held on October 30, 2024.

University of Lagos (UNILAG) Senate celebrated the careers of two distinguished professors, Professor Ngozi Maureen Egenti and Professor Rose Ihuoma Anorlu, in a special tribute held on October 30, 2024. The gathering, convened at the Senate meeting, acknowledged the professors' exceptional contributions to academia and the university.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, who chaired the event on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, commended Professors Egenti and Anorlu for their dedication, describing them as "pillars of knowledge and service" to the university community. She extended well-wishes on behalf of the UNILAG community, expressing hopes that they would enjoy fulfilling retirements.

In her career, Professor Ngozi Maureen Egenti, born on October 30, 1954, in Urualla, Imo State, advanced from Lecturer II to Professor in UNILAG’s Department of Adult Education. Known for her academic rigor, she supervised numerous Ph.D. candidates, held the position of Head of Department, and made significant contributions to the Faculty of Education.

Professor Rose Ihuoma Anorlu, a renowned figure in Obstetrics and Gynecology, also received high honors. With an impressive publication record, Anorlu has served in prominent roles, including as President of the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer. She played a key role in cervical cancer research and prevention efforts across Africa and was instrumental in setting up a cervical cancer prevention center in Lekki, Lagos.

Both professors expressed heartfelt gratitude for their time at UNILAG. Professor Egenti extended thanks for the supportive university environment, while Professor Anorlu, joining virtually, thanked her colleagues and family, acknowledging the impact they had on her career.
