 Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has assured the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) of the reinstatement of the banned Students Union Government (SUG) following a recent ultimatum.

During her visit to the UNILAG management, Ogunsola reaffirmed the university's commitment to student governance and welfare by addressing the suspension of the SUG. She emphasized the importance of fostering a vibrant academic environment through effective student representation.

Ogunsola outlined steps being taken to resolve outstanding issues and create an enabling environment for the SUG to operate effectively. She underscored the role of the SUG in promoting student welfare, enhancing campus life, and facilitating constructive engagement with the university administration.

In response, Oladiimeji Uthman, the Senate Clerk of NANS, commended Ogunsola's dedication to reinstating the SUG, acknowledging the vacuum created by its suspension and the resulting dissatisfaction among students. He highlighted ongoing consultations aimed at addressing root causes and fostering a strong relationship between UNILAG and NANS.

The Vice Chancellor's initiative aims to establish a functional SUG that serves as a bridge between students and the administration, ensuring prompt resolution of student issues and maintaining campus democracy.
