UNILORIN Alumnus Abideen Olasupo Speaks at Global Summit on AI
Mr. Abideen Olasupo, a University of Ilorin alumnus, addressed global leaders on ethical AI development at the One Young World Summit in Montréal.
Mr. Abideen Olasupo, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, was a prominent speaker at the recently concluded One Young World Summit 2024 held in Montréal, Canada. The summit took place from September 18 to September 21, bringing together a diverse group of young leaders and experts to discuss pressing global issues, particularly in the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
As the Convener of the FactCheck Africa Initiative and CEO of MyAIfactChecker, Mr. Olasupo led a significant session titled “How Can Humanity Make AI a Force for Good?” His discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities that AI presents, emphasizing the need for strategic integration, ethical development, and awareness of future trends.
“This summit is a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence in the global AI landscape,” Mr. Olasupo remarked. Reflecting on his experience, he stated, “I am honoured to lead this important discussion on AI at One Young World.” He further elaborated that while AI has the potential to transform various industries and societies, it is crucial to develop and implement these technologies within a robust ethical framework.
The summit attracted around 2,000 participants from over 190 countries and 250 organizations, highlighting the global commitment to addressing the implications of AI for the future.
