UNILORIN Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Home Economics Department
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has pledged continued support for the Department of Home Economics and Food Science, with efforts underway to ensure its graduates meet international standards.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is strengthening its Department of Home Economics and Food Science to equip graduates with globally competitive skills. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, made this commitment during a visit from the Home Economics Professionals Association of Nigeria (HEPAN).
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, expressed gratitude to HEPAN for choosing UNILORIN as the host for their 14th national conference. He noted that such events boost students' enthusiasm for their careers. Prof. Fawole highlighted the university's efforts to support the department, including a state-of-the-art facility soon to be commissioned.
HEPAN President, Prof. Nkiru Meludu, praised the university's consistent support and emphasized the need to broaden the perception of Home Economics beyond cooking and sewing. Home Economics encompasses Medicine, Engineering, and Pharmacy, and HEPAN aims to raise awareness of its diverse applications.
