UNILORIN VC Urges Kwara State Universities to Enhance Global Competitiveness Through Capacity Building
Professor Wahab Egbewole calls for deliberate efforts in learning and capacity building among Kwara state universities during the KU8+ Consortium International Conference.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, has urged Vice Chancellors of state universities in Kwara to enhance the competitiveness of their institutions in a globalized society through focused learning and capacity building.
Egbewole made this call during his keynote address at the second KU8+ Consortium International Conference held at Al Hikmah University, Ilorin. He emphasized that capacity building goes beyond mere training, advocating for deliberate and conscious efforts to increase skills and competencies among university staff and students.
In a similar vein, Professor Bamitale, a former Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, highlighted the importance of strengthening collaborations and partnerships among universities to promote economic growth and educational advancement.
The Vice Chancellor of Al Hikmah University, Professor Noah Yusuf, also spoke at the conference, noting its purpose was to explore initiatives that could help universities compete on a global scale.
The event attracted notable attendees, including the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, represented by Dr. Chris Maiyaki, Executive Secretary of the National University Commission, and the Kwara State Governor, represented by Dr. Mary Arinade, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, alongside traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
