UNIMAID Acting VC Assures Support During Alumni Caretaker Chairman’s Visit

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has pledged the university’s full support for the smooth operation of its alumni association. 

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit from Dr. Mohammed Bulama, the caretaker Chairman of the UNIMAID Alumni Association, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.

Professor Mele emphasized the importance of the alumni association in planning the upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations of the university and in reaching out to alumni globally. He also congratulated Dr. Bulama on his recent appointment as Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called for increased collaboration between the association and the university.

Dr. Bulama, who is also the Director-General of FRCN, outlined the purpose of his visit, which included introducing the new leadership and updating the university management on the ongoing election process within the association. He assured the Vice-Chancellor that the committee would facilitate a smooth election process, establish chapters at various levels, and seek the university’s support in all endeavors.
