UNIMAID Partners with Drug Free World Africa to Combat Drug Abuse

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has reaffirmed the university’s commitment to collaborating with the Borno State Chapter of Drug Free World Africa in the fight against drug abuse.  

Professor Mele made this pledge during a courtesy visit by the organization to his office at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

While addressing the delegation, Professor Mele expressed his appreciation for the organization's efforts and assured them of the university’s full support. He emphasized the need for intensified measures to curb drug abuse among youth and adults, both within and beyond the university community.

The delegation was led by Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Yakura Isa Ferobe, who commended the Vice-Chancellor for his openness to collaboration. Ferobe assured the university community of the organization’s readiness to provide educational resources, protection, rehabilitation, and support to both students and staff.  

The partnership aims to foster a safer and drug-free environment, enhancing the well-being of the university community and contributing to societal progress.
