UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mele Extends Goodwill Messages, Urges Peace and Shared Sacrifice
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has extended warm congratulations and spiritual goodwill to the university’s Muslim Ummah and its host communities on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-ul-Kabir celebrations.
The official goodwill message was released from the Vice-Chancellor's office on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, and Senate of the institution.
Reflecting on the sacred festival, Professor Mele urged staff, students, and institutional stakeholders to internalize the timeless values of obedience, absolute faith, and selfless sacrifice. He noted that these foundational virtues, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), remain vital pillars for sustaining mutual tolerance, peace, institutional resilience, and academic excellence within the university.

The Vice-Chancellor highly commended both the academic and non-academic staff for their unwavering dedication to fulfilling the university's educational mandate.
Addressing the student body, Professor Mele encouraged the youth to remain focused, highly disciplined, and law-abiding throughout the festive holidays.
Management also extended its profound appreciation to the university's host communities and strategic security partners. The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged their continuous collaboration and vigilant support, which have been instrumental in maintaining a safe, peaceful, and secure campus environment.
Professor Mele concluded his message with prayers for sustained peace, institutional unity, and bountiful prosperity across individual homes, Borno State, and the nation at large.
