UNIPORT has denied reports of a cult clash resulting in the death of a student, stating that swift action by security forces averted any casualties or escalation.

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has dismissed reports claiming that an inter-gang clash recently occurred on its campus, resulting in the death of a student.

In a statement issued on Friday by the institution's spokesman, Dr. Sam Kpenu, the university clarified that no fatalities or injuries were recorded during the incident, contrary to claims made in some media outlets.

Dr. Kpenu emphasized that the quick intervention of the school's management, security personnel, and the Nigeria Police Force's anti-cultism unit prevented the situation from escalating. The individuals involved in the altercation, described as a minor fight between students, were apprehended and are currently under investigation at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt.

"For the avoidance of doubt, nobody died in that incident, which has been blown out of proportion by some online blogs," the statement read, assuring the public that the situation is under control.
