In a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Officer, Benedicta Ehanire, the institution felt it necessary to correct the misinformation circulating in the media.

The statement explained, “We find it crucial to clarify the facts surrounding the donation of hostels to the University of Benin. While General Theophilus Danjuma generously contributed the first hostel, the subsequent two hostels—the recently inaugurated one and another currently under construction—were donated by Senator Daisy Ehanire-Danjuma.”
The statement highlighted Senator Danjuma’s longstanding commitment to advancing girl-child education and development, which motivated her contributions.

“The University of Benin extends its heartfelt gratitude to Senator Danjuma for her ongoing support and generosity towards the institution. We regret any confusion caused by the inaccuracies in recent media reports,” the statement concluded.
