University of Maiduguri Inaugurates Newly Elected SUG Executives for 2023/2024

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, officially inaugurated the newly elected Student Union Government (SUG) executives for the 2023/2024 academic session. The inauguration and swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Senate Annex of the university.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the new executives and urged them to exhibit excellence in their leadership roles. He also assured them of the University Management’s full support and collaboration in their efforts to serve the student body effectively.

Dr. Mohammad Yahaya, Dean of Student Affairs, introduced the newly elected officials and encouraged them to contribute to fostering a vibrant and inclusive student community within the university. The newly inaugurated SUG President, Hafiz Mohammed Bello, a 400-level Computer Science student, expressed his gratitude to the university for ensuring a peaceful election process and promised to serve the student body with fairness and dedication.

The oath of office was administered by Barrister Asma'u Jatau, Director of Legal Services at the University of Maiduguri.
