UNIZIK Acting V.C Inspects University Medical Centre Amidst Doctor Strike

Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, visited the University Medical Centre to assess operations amid a doctor strike. The strike, caused by a recent kidnapping of an NMA member, has led to a suspension of medical services by doctors.

Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, conducted an inspection visit to the University Medical Centre to assess its current operations and services.

Upon arrival, Professor Arinze-Umobi was greeted by Professor Lasbery Asomugha, Director of UNIZIK Medical Services, who guided her through the facility. During the tour, Professor Asomugha informed her that medical services had been suspended due to a directive from the Anambra State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

This action follows the recent kidnapping of an NMA member, prompting a state-wide suspension of services by doctors until the abducted individual is released. Despite the suspension, the medical centre remains operational with nurses available to provide care.
