UNIZIK Pharmacy Faculty Launches Maiden Lecture Series, Secures Major Infrastructure Commitments

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University has recorded a significant milestone with the successful launch of its maiden Faculty Lecture Series, an event that also honoured the institution’s founding icons while attracting fresh commitments towards infrastructural development.

The landmark gathering held yesterday the 14th day of April, 2026 brought together eminent scholars, industry leaders, and key stakeholders, reflecting the Faculty’s growing influence and dedication to academic excellence.

 The lecture, themed “Human Capital Development in the 21st Century: Mentorship and Philanthropy as Critical Catalysts for National Development,” emphasized the importance of mentorship and strategic investment in shaping sustainable national growth.

The occasion featured distinguished personalities, including former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Charles Esimone, government representatives, and industry leaders, all of whom contributed to the intellectual and developmental tone of the event. In a strong show of support, commitments were made towards enhancing the Faculty’s infrastructure, including plans for a two-storey building and financial contributions aimed at supporting both staff and students. 

The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Bond Stanley Ugochukwu Anyaehie described the event as a strong academic tradition commending the Faculty for such initiative

He stressed the need for continuity and sustainability as that's the only way the Faculy will position itself as a hub for intellectual engagement, innovation, and institutional advancement.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Sunday O. Nduka, outlined pressing developmental needs such as additional male hostel accommodation, the establishment of an animal research facility, and improved environmental landscaping, underscoring the Faculty’s forward-looking vision.
