UNIZIK VC Assures Remaining Unpaid Staff of Full Payroll Resolution

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has assured members of staff employed in 2019 and 2020 who are yet to be placed on the university's payroll that efforts are underway to resolve the issue permanently.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has assured members of staff employed in 2019 and 2020 who are yet to be placed on the university's payroll that efforts are underway to resolve the issue permanently.

The assurance was given on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, when a delegation of the affected staff paid an appreciation visit to the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his interventions, which have already led to the commencement of salary payments for some previously unpaid staff members.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Kenechukwu Jane Ejim commended the Vice-Chancellor for his commitment and proactive efforts, saying his interventions had restored hope to many staff members after years of uncertainty.

She also appealed to the university management to ensure that the remaining unpaid staff are captured on the payroll, noting that their collective joy would only be complete when every affected employee begins receiving salaries.

Responding, Professor Anyaehie thanked the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the patience, resilience and understanding shown by the affected staff despite the challenges they had endured.

He described the payroll issue as one inherited by his administration and reaffirmed that resolving it remains a top priority.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that arrangements are already underway to facilitate the placement of another batch of the affected staff on the payroll, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that every eligible staff member is fully integrated into the university's salary structure.

He further pledged that his administration would continue working until the lingering payroll challenge is completely resolved, assuring the affected staff that no effort would be spared in bringing the matter to a permanent end.

The visit concluded with the presentation of an appreciation plaque to the Vice-Chancellor by the delegation, followed by a celebration to mark the progress recorded so far.
