Use your roles to solve nation's problems, Fulafia VC Prof Abdul Rahman charges leaders
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia, (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called on leaders, at all levels, to use their positions to solve Nigeria’s problems, myschoolnews Report.
Abdul Rahman made this call during a meeting he held with the staff of the Centre for Leadership Studies and other management staff of the University.
The meeting took place at the Old Senate Chamber in the Permanent Site Campus of the University, recently.
He thanked the staff for achievements recorded at the centre within a short period of time of its existence, saying that the achievements were due to the hard work and determination of the director of the centre, Professor Okpe O. Okpe Jr, and his team.
Abdul Rahman pointed out that leadership was meant to solve problems in the society, saying that "the sufferings we face today in our society revolve around bad leadership.”
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Professor Usman Samaila Dakyes, described Abdul Rahman as a man of wisdom.
He said that the vice-chancellor had created centres and directorates in the University to attract resources and enhance the visibility of the University.
"The already established centres have begun to yield positive results as some organisations have started donating books for use in the University.”
In his votes of thanks, the Director for Leadership Studies, Professor Okpe O.Okpe Jr., thanked the vice-chancellor for the confidence he reposed in him and other members of the directorate.
He applauded the former vice-chancellor of Kwararrafa University, Wukari, and currently a professor at the Centre for Achieving Future Education in Bronze Work, United States of America, Professor Donald Domagu, and the former director of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), General Shuaibu Ibrahim, for the donation of the books to the University.
The climax of the event was the presentation of the books and journals to the vice-chancellor.
Others present at the event included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Professor Aleruchi Chuku, Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Bursar, Daniel Wilson, and the University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Iyoro, who was represented by Dr. Johnson Olamide.
