He said gaining admission into the Institution was a privilege and an opportunity for the students to develop academically, morally and socially.

“Your admission into this Institution marks the beginning of a defining phase in your lives. You must therefore remain focused on your studies and conduct yourselves in ways that reflect the values of this great University,” he said.

“You have chosen a university that is not just an institution but a home for learning, innovation and character formation,” he said.

According to him, lecturers are not only teachers but mentors and role models who can guide students through their academic journey.

He also warned against examination malpractice, plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty, noting that such acts were incompatible with the ideals of the University.

He explained that students must maintain at least 75 per cent lecture attendance to qualify to sit for examinations.

“Attendance is not a mere formality in this University. Failure to attain 75 per cent attendance will deny a student the opportunity to sit for the examination of that course,” he said.

He further urged the students to dress decently and avoid acts such as sexual harassment, bullying, cultism and drug abuse, stressing that the University had zero tolerance for such misconduct.

Professor Gudugi also encouraged the students to take care of their physical, mental and emotional well-being while pursuing their academic goals.
