The Faculty of Law, Veritas University, Abuja, on Monday officially launched the Veritas University Law Clinic, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s drive to connect academic learning with real-world legal practice and community impact.

The newly established clinic embodies the philosophy of “Law in Action,” addressing pressing social and environmental issues within and beyond the university’s host communities of Zuma 1, Zuma 2, and Gaba. The initiative focuses on waste management, pollution control, access to justice for wrongfully imprisoned individuals, and the protection of human rights.
In collaboration with the Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC), the Law Clinic will act as a link between communities and the justice system, assisting residents in filing petitions, pursuing environmental accountability, and accessing free legal aid.
A major highlight of the launch was the introduction of one of Nigeria’s first Mental Health Law Clinics, aimed at providing legal and emotional support for individuals dealing with mental health challenges, regardless of the scale or visibility of their struggles.

The initiative reflects Veritas University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing socially responsible lawyers—graduates equipped not only with legal expertise but also with empathy, courage, and a deep sense of civic duty.
