The Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation has awarded scholarships to 50 students of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The scholarship recipients, selected from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, received their awards on Monday in an event that underscores the foundation’s dedication to youth empowerment and education.

A statement released on Tuesday highlighted that the scholarship awards were in line with a commitment made during the recent youth political participation and governance training program. This inaugural event, organized by the University of Port Harcourt’s Centre for Politics in collaboration with the foundation in October, aimed at promoting political engagement among young people in the region.

The scholarship presentation was attended by key representatives from the foundation, including General Counsel Winnie Morganson, who stood in for Dr. Victor Briggs, the foundation’s president. The Secretary of the foundation, Jackson Allen, and the Rivers State Liaison Officer, Richard Ogbonna, were also present to witness the event.

In addition to covering the full tuition fees for the 50 beneficiaries, the scholarships include a stipend to support the students’ upkeep, allowing them to focus on their studies without financial constraints. The university's management and strategic partners praised the foundation for its impactful support, commending the initiative as a means to help students achieve their academic goals.

Dr. Victor Briggs, through his representatives, urged the students to remain diligent and hardworking, reminding them that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
