WAEC Assures Swift Resolution for Withheld WASSCE Results by Mid-September

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has assured candidates with withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) that their issues will be resolved before mid-September. WAEC, an examination board established by law to oversee public interest examinations in English-speaking West African countries, also awards certificates comparable to those of international examining authorities.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @waecnigeria, on Tuesday, August 13, WAEC explained that the affected candidates have a “missing component” in their results. The council emphasized that efforts are underway to address these discrepancies and ensure that candidates receive their complete results promptly.

WAEC plays a crucial role in the educational landscape of West Africa, determining the necessary examinations and awarding certificates that are recognized globally. The council’s commitment to resolving the issues faced by candidates with outstanding results underscores its dedication to maintaining the integrity and reliability of its examination processes.
