Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of National Office (HNO) for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has reported a successful turnout for the 2024 examinations, with approximately 1.8 million candidates participating.

He also noted that this year's exams have seen a slight increase in female candidates, with a gender ratio of 51:49, favoring females.

The examinations are being conducted across over 20,000 school centers nationwide, and Dr. Dangut has praised the candidates for their exemplary conduct during the ongoing exams. "There has been no report of any leakage whatsoever, so it’s going on smoothly," he stated.

Dr. Dangut also echoed the sentiments of Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman, noting the calm atmosphere observed during the examination period. "As the minister has attested to when moving around, you will see that there was calmness as the students were well-comported and writing very well," he remarked.
