WAFROEX, a leading agricultural export organization specializing in West African produce, has fortified its collaboration with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 10, 2024. The agreement focuses on advancing beekeeping research, honey production, and apiculture development in Nigeria.

As part of the renewed partnership, WAFROEX donated 70 Lyson Langstroth Beehives to FUNAAB, aimed at enhancing the University’s apiculture projects. The collaboration will establish a joint apiary supported by grants, promoting research and practical beekeeping applications.

During the signing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde expressed gratitude for WAFROEX’s support, while WAFROEX leader Mr. Samir Lababidi praised FUNAAB’s dedication, pledging continued support for the University's apiculture initiatives.

The partnership will also introduce a certificate-based training programme, providing students, small-scale farmers, and participants with hands-on beekeeping knowledge.

Key attendees included Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Kola Adebayo, Ag. Registrar Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, and WAFROEX team members Mr. Abdulrahman Shomala and Mr. Abubakri Shomala.
