Wesley University Celebrates International Women’s Day with "Give to Gain" Special Service

Wesley University, Ondo, commemorated the 2026 International Women’s Day with a special programme held at the Wesley Ecumenical Centre on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The programme, themed “Give to Gain,” brought together members of the university community for a moment of reflection, encouragement, and spiritual upliftment.

Delivering the message, Evang. Mrs. Oni of Anglican Cathedral, Ondo, emphasized the importance of helping others as a pathway to advancing the Kingdom of God. She noted that when people willingly support others, they contribute to the growth of God’s work, while neglecting such opportunities may lead many away from the right path.

She particularly highlighted the challenges faced by some young people, especially girls who desire to pursue education but lack the financial support to do so. According to her, many are sometimes pushed into difficult situations in search of survival, stressing that timely support and encouragement can help keep them focused on their faith and future.

Evang. Oni urged members of the congregation to cultivate a spirit of generosity, explaining that the concept of “Give to Gain” is not about keeping score but about consistently investing in the lives of others.

“By investing in the success of others, especially women around you, you are in the most powerful way investing in your own life and future. When you give in love and service, you are storing treasures in heaven,” she said.

She also shared that she has personally supported several individuals, not out of pride, but to encourage others to adopt the same spirit of giving and service.
