The honour followed a courtesy visit by Oyeneyin to the university, where he was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Samuel Sunday Obeka, alongside members of the institution’s management team.
During the visit, Oyeneyin was conducted around key facilities within the university, including academic units, the College of Law, and the Ecumenical Centre. He commended the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, describing his administration as impactful and transformative, while stressing the importance of purposeful living and generational impact.
In his remarks, Prof. Obeka expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged Oyeneyin’s sustained commitment to humanitarian causes, noting that his interventions continue to make measurable differences in underserved communities.
The engagement extended beyond the campus as the university leadership attended a humanitarian outreach programme organised by Oyeneyin at the Ilerioluwa House of Hope, focused on supporting widows and vulnerable groups.
Addressing participants at the event, the Vice-Chancellor described care for widows, orphans, and disadvantaged individuals as a critical social responsibility, commending Oyeneyin’s consistency in driving grassroots impact across Ondo State and beyond.
The university subsequently formalised its recognition of Oyeneyin’s contributions with the conferment of an honorary doctorate, citing his long-standing commitment to philanthropy and social advancement.
As part of broader institutional support initiatives, Prof. Obeka announced a 20 percent tuition discount for children of widows affiliated with the foundation, subject to formal recommendation. He added that the university has also introduced tuition incentives for indigenes of Ondo State as part of efforts to expand access to higher education.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that sustainable success is anchored on values-driven leadership and a culture of giving, underscoring the role of institutions and individuals in driving inclusive development.
