Principal of St. Michael’s Catholic High School in Akure, Ondo State, Adeniyi Oluyide, who gained notoriety for his unconventional tradition of appearing as a student to welcome newly admitted pupils, has clarified the purpose behind his unique attire.

In an interview, Oluyide explained that this tradition has been an integral part of the school's culture for several years, but it was only this year that a video of the event was recorded and subsequently shared online.

He emphasized that this tradition has a specific purpose, aiming to inspire the students to wear their school uniforms with pride and conduct themselves appropriately within the school community.

Oluyide elaborated on the tradition, stating, "It has been a tradition of the school, and we have been following that tradition for the past three years. The one for this year is the one in that video trending on the Internet. Immediately after we conclude the admission process, we usually have an orientation, which is a one-week program for newly admitted JSS1 pupils. They come from different homes, and they are transitioning to a higher level of education. So, we organize a program for them to acquaint them with the school's rules and regulations, as well as how to conduct themselves."
