January 2025 concluded on an exciting note for students of the Department of Marine Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG), as 108 students participated in the department’s much-anticipated Annual Ghana Trip. The week-long international and educational coastal road trip, held from January 26 to January 31, 2025, provided students with hands-on experience to complement their academic studies.

The trip, designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, served as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application by exposing participants to real-world maritime operations beyond Nigeria’s borders. The journey took students through the Badagry corridor into the Republic of Benin and Togo before reaching Accra, Ghana's capital.

During the five-day field excursion, students visited prestigious institutions and key maritime facilities, including the Regional Maritime University (RMU), the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD), the Fisheries Commission in Accra, and the Tema Divisions. They also toured the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Center (KAIPTC), further broadening their understanding of international maritime security and management.
