Alena Wicker, a remarkable 12-year-old girl, has been granted admission to Arizona State University in the United States. Despite her young age, Alena, driven by her exceptional brilliance and dream of becoming a space engineer, transitioned from high school to university.
Alena's focus at Arizona State University will be on astronomical and planetary science as well as chemistry, aligning with her ambition to work at NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Originally aspiring to be an astronomer, she shifted her focus to engineering due to her passion for building, expressing her desire to construct a rover destined for space.
Having nurtured her dream since the age of 4 by building NASA-sized Legos, Alena's journey reflects a commitment to her goal. Her mother, Daphne McQuarter, recounted Alena's early declarations of working for NASA and becoming the youngest Black girl to do so.
Following completion of high school through homeschooling, Alena embarks on her pursuit of engineering at Arizona State University, anticipating graduation by the age of 16. Her aspirations extend to building rovers for interplanetary exploration.
