12-Year-Old Prodigy Admitted to University of Toronto, Graduates at 16, Aims for PhD by 22

 Vivian Xie, who was admitted to the University of Toronto at the age of 12, has graduated with a bachelor's degree at just 16. She completed a double major in Biology and Cell and Molecular Biology, making history as the youngest-ever graduate from the university’s Faculty of Arts & Sciences.

Vivian began her higher education journey at the University of Prince Edward Island before transferring to the University of Toronto. She credits her love of learning and the support of her grandmother, a schoolteacher, for her academic success.

Despite her accelerated academic path, Vivian emphasized the importance of learning at her own pace and enjoying a variety of activities, including creative writing and food. She advised against specializing too early, believing that a broad range of skills is beneficial.

Vivian plans to continue her education at the University of Toronto, enrolling in a master’s program in Applied Immunology. She aims to earn her PhD by the age of 22. "All of these incredible coincidences happened for us to exist right now. Just have fun and enjoy the time you have on Earth," she said.
