In an extraordinary feat of intellect, 14-year-old Eshiet Abasiekeme from Bright Stars Model Secondary School, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, has emerged as the winner of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) Foundation National Essay Competition (NEC), beating 12,000 contestants. Eshiet's outstanding performance has earned her a prestigious ₦2.5 million scholarship to pursue her university education at any African institution of her choice.

The UBA Foundation conducts the NEC annually, providing a platform for high school students from across Nigeria to showcase their writing prowess. Eshiet's exceptional essay not only earned her the first prize but also secured her a substantial educational grant and ongoing mentorship from the UBA Foundation throughout her academic journey.
