Anthony, a 21-year-old beneficiary of the renowned LeBron James scholarship, has graduated from Kent State University, making history as the first beneficiary of the scholarship to earn a bachelor’s degree.

LeBron James, a renowned American professional basketball player launched the ‘I Promise School’ in 2018 as part of his efforts to provide education and opportunities to at-risk children and their families in Northeast Ohio.

Anthony was among the inaugural class of 193 students who received four years of free tuition to attend Kent State University, along with one year of fully paid room and board.

LeBron James took to Instagram to congratulate Anthony on his achievement and his milestone as the first ‘I Promise School’ student to earn a bachelor’s degree. He exclaimed, “congratulations anthony!!! so proud of you young prince.”

Anthony capitalized on his opportunity, graduating early with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Justice Studies, with a minor in Sociology. Reflecting on his journey, Anthony said, “If it wasn’t for the LeBron James Family Foundation, I don’t know if I would have gone to college, I don’t know where I would be.”

He further added, “If I went somewhere else, I wouldn’t have been able to live on campus and meet new people, develop relationships, or join organizations. I really enjoy being able to do that at Kent State.”

Anthony acknowledged the financial assistance he received from the school, particularly with tuition and books. He credited the support he received for enhancing his educational experience. “These programs also provided me access to different scholarships and internships. Overall, it made the campus a lot easier to navigate,” he said.
