Thirty graduates of Kwara State University (KWASU) Department of Food Science and Technology were inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) during a special ceremony held on November 20, 2024.

A total of 30 graduates from Kwara State University (KWASU) Department of Food Science and Technology were officially inducted as professional members of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) in a ceremony held on the university campus on November 20, 2024.

In his speech, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, emphasized the importance of continuous learning. He urged the inductees to keep enhancing their knowledge and skills, noting that their professional development will be dependent on staying updated in the ever-evolving field of food science.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor David Friday Apata, commended the graduates, highlighting the critical role that food science plays in the country’s economic development.

Dr. Bola Osinowo, the President of NIFST, reassured the graduates of the institute’s support for their professional growth, including helping them secure internship placements with reputable companies and organizations.

The highlight of the ceremony was the oath-taking and certificate presentation, led by the Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Wasiu Awoyale. The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Professor Bolanle Akinwande, Chairperson of the Western Chapter of NIFST, and Mr. Victor Olatunji, the NIFST Logistics and Events Officer.
